My Big Project
I've had a goal to do a long term trip for many years. I suppose I like the idea of adventure and challenge and the hope of personal growth from a long journey. Based on where I am in my personal life, I feel like I've reached a critical point. If not now, when? I will be documenting the trip here to show that I have a large goal, planned it out, and completed it. Yes, traveling does take money, but probably not as much as you might think, so I will be recording my expenses here as well. The purpose for this site is not to "show off". The purpose is to show that I take my goals seriously and I that I can make them happen.
UPDATE: My Big Project is over, and I am settled back into a full time job. It was a fantastic break. I would absolutely do it again. I spent six months traveling, meeting wonderful people, learning history and politics, and having lots of adventures. I didn't update this site as much as I planned because I was busy enjoying the ride. A big part of my motivation was to show potential employers that I was busy during my time off, learning and navigating several countries on my own, managing a budget. However, most of them did not care that I voluntarily took time off work. I suppose that is a benefit of working in tech right now. It may not last forever, but I will enjoy it while it lasts.
